Bold @ The Children’s Media Conference
Posted by Hannah in UncategorizedTags: children's media conference, henry winkler, the fonz, video
The sun shined bright as a youthful Bold team captured inspirational ideas for the future of children’s media in the UK. The Children’s Media Conference, held in Sheffield, brought together the good and the great to share the most innovative and exciting projects over the last year.
The biggest players were on hand to voice their opinions and shed light on how they see their industry shaping up. Young Bold vloggers wielded iFlip cameras to record their thoughts on the conference and the future of children’s media. Watch our film below, produced by Bold and shown at the closing session of the conference, on what the attendees of the conference think on what the future of children’s media holds.
Some colourful responses and ideas were recorded, including a special cameo by Henry Winkler (better known as “the Fonz”) who summed up the future of children’s media in one word: tenacity. “If you are tenacious, you will create phenomenal stuff,” Winkler said.

The conference was a massive success and the entire Bold team enjoyed sitting in on panels, interviewing attendees, and meeting the wonderful people involved in children’s media. We were both inspired and excited to see what the future holds in TV, the internet, and beyond for children’s media. Until next year’s conference!

Friday values sessions are back on and last week Kweku, our all star designer, organised the session!

We started out at the office where he split us into two teams giving both a map and sending us off on the elephant trail around london to see who could spot their most on the way to the next bit of our Values session!!
http://www.elephantparadelondon.org/

Elephant Parade is a conservation campaign that shines a multi-coloured spotlight on the urgent crisis faced by the endangered Asian elephant. Brought to you by www.elephantfamily.org, the event sees over 250 brightly painted life-size elephants located over central London this summer.
Both teams raced through the streets of east London, round corners and green’s towards the river, looking for the various painted elephants along the way and capturing a photo of each one we managed to find, until we reached the destination of the second part of the values session.

This found us at the London Fairtrade Festival, running from 7 – 9 May, the Festival celebrated World Fair Trade Day 2010. A weekend of Fairtrade family fun, including lots of Fairtrade food, music, film and entertainment to enjoy.
We tried a variety of food and drink all available to sample, from candy floss to harry hill nuts, alongside hats and bags and bits.
Later on there was a chocolate and wine tasting, where a man gave a speech about the history of chocolate, and a film was also shown.
After this a couple of the guys went down to TATE Britain as ‘Faith in the City’ and ‘It Ain’t Disneyland’ were being screened at the Late at Tate Britain: East is East event.
Aside from the rain at the end this was a brilliant Bold Values and we definitely had a good adventure!
Check out the elephants and see how many you can spot around London!!

Forest Flava Press Pack – Website

We are working with the Forest Flava press pack from Waltham Forest to create them a new website! The young people from Forest Flava are involved in every level of the development and we meet weekly to discuss progress and get their input. We have been working on all sorts a logo, site design, content and we even had a big photo shoot last week to get some wicked images for the website!

The Day Project – Graphic Novel

Bold Creative are working on an innovative project with Body and Soul to create a product that communicates some of the tough issues that young people with HIV face growing up in the UK.
Having produced The Day comic last year, we are now working with 5 different illustrators developing a unique graphic novel designed and narrated by young people at the heart of the issue. The project will face some the challenges of growing up with HIV head on, and become a resource for the many young people in the UK affected by the condition every day..
The blog documents stages of this project - http://thedayproject.org.uk/

For this Friday Values Sessions Tony took us on a trip to the East End Film Festival!
The East End Film Festival Trailer 2010 from Alan Miles on Vimeo.
After work some of the team headed down to Rio Cinema for the screening of:
With an area of London overflowing with personal stories and social issues, the East End offers new documentary filmmakers plenty of scope to tell essential stories in creative ways.
The films were varied styles, documenting stories from different characters living within the East End! They were all fascinating and provided our film makers with some ideas.
After the film, a few of us went on to another venue in the East End Film Festival where we saw this hectic band play!
Check them out!
